The Leicester School of Art opened its doors in 1870, with De Montfort University (DMU), a historic public university in Leicester, England obtaining its university status in 1992. DMU is named after Simon de Montfort, who called together the first parliament in England.
DMU has four faculties; Art Design and Humanities; Business and Law; Health and Life Sciences; and Computing Engineering and Media. About 27,000 students from a variety of backgrounds and about 3,000 staff members make DMU a lively community that welcomes students from around the world.
DMU has a large campus consisting of old and new buildings and facilities. For example, the Vijay Patel Building is home to art and design; and the Hugh Aston Building is home to business and law; and let’s not forget the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Leisure Centre! DMU’s campus is situated in the very middle of the city of Leicester and provides students with not only a very convenient place to study but a great place to study.
DMU is recognized for its employability focus, with many of its programs co-created with industry partners, and the opportunity to get placements, internships and project opportunities in the industry.
