About the course

Students on this course gain the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to work in today’s demanding media and entertainment industries. This course mixes learning how to create content with lessons about different media, readying students to work in film, television, digital and online areas. From day one, students participate in projects and mini briefs close to the kind that work professionals encounter. They gain understanding of all parts of video production, starting from planning the concept and script, shooting, lighting, editing and finishing the process after production ends. Learning to use specialized equipment and industry software, students explore the fields of cinematography, sound design and visual storytelling. In addition, the course examines theories related to media, communication techniques and how the media affects society. As such, students are more mindful about what they create, aware of what is happening now and aware of how the media can change opinions. Teamwork is a central element of the program and students may work together in groups and even with outside clients to gain valuable teamwork, leadership and project management skills.Having options to focus on documentary, drama or digital content gives learners the ability to design their education to suit their interests and job plans. Building programs for creative interests, welcoming all and reflecting many people’s stories are important.Graduates depart from the program with their own projects, relevant job experience and the self-assurance to take on opportunities in film, television, content creation, digital marketing or freelance media jobs. The classes support students who want to go on to university or regular jobs in media and communications
