Students on the BA (Hons) Graphic Design programme at the University of Chester are taught how to communicate visually. The class is designed to give students a mix of theoretical thinking and practical training in branding, typography, packaging, editorial design, UX/UI and motion graphics. Students take on real projects, work side by side with those in the industry and build a good design portfolio. It prepares students to be creative, do more research and resolve challenges, all while using up-to-date technologies connected to the design world. Projects held in the studio benefit from workshops, tutorials and lectures by designers working in the field. Students are taught to understand their viewers, use visuals to tell their stories and see how design shapes today’s culture and companies. Students enter the world of work by participating in placements, competitions and external exhibitions. People who finish this program can grow their careers in graphic design, advertising, marketing, digital media, illustration or freelance practice.
