Students at the University of Chester learn about the biological sciences and how they are used for criminal investigations as part of the BSc (Hons) Forensic Biology. In this course, learners study genetics, molecular biology, toxicology, forensic anthropology and DNA analysis. Through the course, students learn how to do crime scene investigations, collect evidence and use laboratory tools needed for forensic science. Students need to focus on analyzing data, being observant and comprehending the laws related to forensic science. Other than that, students are taught about techniques for collecting, interpreting and using evidence in court. Practice classes are backed up by mock crime scenes and talks by real experts in the field. The program prepares students for forensic laboratory jobs, law enforcement careers, biomedical analysis work or study in related scientific fields.
