Students on the BA (Hons) Fine Art course at Chester develop their creativity and critical thinking using a variety of art practices. Students are introduced to painting, drawing, sculpting, installing, printmaking, photography and new media. The program encourages experimenting, using self-guided practice and supports this with individual tutorials, workshops and peer comments. Here, students get the opportunity to find their own artistic direction with instruction on art history, modern movements, visual culture and professional practices. Working on exhibitions, joining together with students from various fields and taking part in external activities helps students build skills for the creative industries. Using studios and master equipment, learners work on perfecting their approach to art. You will also study art theory, learn how to critically analyze paintings and enhance your professional skills. After studies, those who graduate may pursue work as artists, curators, arts teachers, community arts workers or continue on to postgraduate courses in the arts or similar fields.
