The BA (Hons) Fashion Design at the University of Chester teaches students the skills needed to work and thrive in the fashion industry. Starting with ideation and finishing with garment production, the course addresses ideas, textiles, illustrations, cutting patterns and sustainable ways of doing things. The students learn design principles in both traditional settings and using computer technology, including CAD. They analyze different styles, understand branding approaches, spot trends and study how consumers act, managing the business aspect of the industry. The help of experienced teachers and guest experts allows students to build their own design identity. Being involved in live briefings, competitions and exhibitions helps learners introduce their work to genuine audiences. In addition, students build their skills and careers with the help of portfolio activities and internship programs. Individuals who graduate are trained for jobs in fashion design, styling, buying products, creating fabrics or working as entrepreneurs in fashion.
