In the BA (Hons) Fashion Design program at Bath Spa University, students explore both fashion design and the social, environmental and ethical aspects of the fashion business. From the Locksbrook campus, students create design ideas that are both sustainable and innovative. Key elements covered in the curriculum are pattern cutting, making garments, designing with different textiles and fashion illustration, plus the study of fashion history and theory. Participating in live briefs, internships and fashion shows, students hear directly from industry experts about how design and production work. It helps students get a deep understanding of materials, ways to produce fashion and how fashion products are meant to last, hoping to prompt creativity in a sustainable manner. With the skills and understanding learned in the program, graduates can become fashion designers, help develop new products or work in related areas, all shown through their portfolio.
