About the course

Students at Canterbury Christ Church University who want to sharpen their writing skills in many genres and job areas can study BA (Hons) Creative & Professional Writing. Graduates of this program are well equipped for careers in writing, publishing, media, communications and other related fields.Professionals in the field guide students, helping them create interesting stories, clear messages and content that convinces readers. Important topics in the curriculum include fiction, poetry, scriptwriting, digital stories, editing, journalism and writing for business. In these courses, workshops, receiving feedback from peers and compiling a portfolio are important for each student’s growth.As well as developing their writing, students study how to put their work to professional use in advertising, public relations, marketing and publishing. Topics in the modules concentrate on knowing your audience, the purpose of the work and how to choose the right tone, as well as skills in pitching concepts, responding to briefs and sticking to deadlines.Students enjoy being part of a team, able to join guest lectures, write in competitions, do industry placements and consider publishing their outcomes. The curriculum helps students think critically and reflectively about social, cultural and ethical aspects of current writing.Alumni from this program have established portfolios, work experience and the belief in themselves to work as writers, editors, content creators, copywriters or pursue advanced education in writing. In this course, students are encouraged to communicate well, find work and develop their individual style as writers.The BA (Hons) Creative & Professional Writing degree blends imagination, skills and knowledge from industry to create a strong foundation for a writing career.

 

Foundation Year + Undergraduate Degree (ICAS):

• Duration: 4 years
• Entry Requirements: a minimum grade point average of 50%
• Initial Deposit: 75% before CAS
• UKVI SELT required: 6.0 overall with no score less than 5.5 for each component
• PTE: 59 overall and in each component

Bachelors:

• Duration: 3 years
• Entry Requirements:
• An applicant with 70% in Intermediate is eligible for UG
• DAE 58% is also eligible for direct UG entry.
• For A Levels UCAS 96 with 3 B can be accepted for a direct bachelor.
• UG direct entry program with 2 years b.com/bsc – minimum required – 60%

– IELTS A minimum overall score of 6.0, with no individual component scoring below 5.5, accepted for both Academic and UKVI versions.
• For UG & PG: 6 overall with no element below 5
• For Health UG Prog: 8 overall with no element below 7
• Non-standard postgraduate programs: 7 overall with no element below 6

– TOEFL (IBT 46 overall, with 7 in listening, 16 in Speaking, 8 in Reading, and 18 in writing)
